About Me

Welcome to my blog! My name is Kayla, and I am currently serving as an English Teacher and Teacher Trainer in Java, Indonesia. My service started in September of 2018. This blog tells the story of my journey doing what Peace Corps coins “the hardest job you’ll ever love”. Becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer, or PCV, has been a goal of mine since well, forever, and I’m excited to share this chapter of my life with friends, family, and strangers while teaching Americans about Indonesian life and culture.

I’m originally from Long Island, New York, and recently graduated from Fordham University with a degree in Political Science and Humanitarian Studies. While there, I served as a Peace Corps Ambassador and learned the ins and outs of the application process. This eventually led me to pick the “send me anywhere” option while applying, so you might say, I didn’t pick Indonesia, Indonesia picked me. (Definitely WON’T be putting my Spanish minor to good use, ha!)
